The Visionary Behind the Movement

After 27 years in the field of education, Shri Rakesh Nihal Ji dedicated his life to cow conservation and rural development in 2007. Inspired by the healing power of Panchgavya, he established Gau-Samvardhan Ashram as a center for sustainability, health, and traditional knowledge.

Under his leadership, the ashram has grown into a model that integrates cow protection, natural farming, water conservation, and rural empowerment.

“If the cow survives, the village survives—and if the village survives, India thrives.”

Our Story

From Vision to Living Ecosystem

What began as a small initiative has evolved into a practical and proven model of sustainable rural development. At Gaumandir, we follow a cow-centered ecosystem where soil, water, crops, animals, and human life are interconnected in a natural cycle of regeneration.

Indigenous cows play a central role in this system. Their dung and urine enrich the soil, supporting natural farming and improving crop quality. This creates a continuous loop where agriculture, cattle, and human life sustain each other.

The impact of this model is visible on the ground. Water conservation efforts have improved groundwater levels significantly, and over 100 acres of land have been transformed into a green and productive ecosystem. Farmers benefit through better cattle breeding programs, while rural communities gain support through skill-based training initiatives, especially for women.

In addition, collaborations with Ayurvedic institutions help preserve and promote traditional knowledge systems.

This approach goes beyond theory—it is a working system that supports environmental balance, rural livelihoods, and natural living, creating a sustainable future rooted in tradition.

Vedic Bilona Ghee is prepared through a traditional process where curd is churned to extract butter, which is then slowly heated to produce ghee. This ancient method preserves the natural aroma, texture, and nutritional value of the milk, making it superior to industrially produced ghee.
Our ghee is prepared using milk from Tharparkar cows, a resilient Indian breed known for producing high-quality A2 milk. These cows are well adapted to the desert environment and naturally graze on herbs and grasses that enhance the nutritional quality of the milk.

Tharparkar is an indigenous Indian cow breed known for its ability to survive in extreme desert conditions. These cows graze naturally on medicinal grasses and herbs found in the Thar region, which enrich their milk with unique micronutrients. This directly impacts the quality and nutritional value of the ghee.
Bilona ghee is made from curd, not directly from cream. The process involves setting milk into curd, then hand-churning it to extract butter, which is later converted into ghee. This traditional method helps retain natural nutrients and makes the ghee easier to digest, unlike mass-produced cream-based ghee.
Yes, products are prepared under controlled traditional methods and are tested to ensure quality, purity, and safety. The focus remains on maintaining natural standards without chemical interference while ensuring the product meets required quality benchmarks.
The cows are not confined to stalls. They are allowed to graze freely in natural environments, where they consume a variety of desert grasses and medicinal herbs. This natural grazing plays a key role in enhancing the quality of milk and the final ghee.

Born in the Harshness of the Desert

In the vast deserts of Rajasthan, life does not grow easily—it evolves through struggle. The Thar is not just a place; it is a natural testing ground where heat, scarcity, and survival shape everything that exists within it.Here, Tharparkar cows graze freely across open land, feeding on rare desert grasses and medicinal herbs like sevan, dhaman, and gokharu. These plants, grown under extreme conditions, develop concentrated nutrients and natural strength. When consumed by the cows, this nutrition is naturally transferred into their milk.

This is where the difference begins. The milk is not ordinary—it carries the essence of the desert. To preserve this, we follow the traditional Vedic Bilona process, where milk is first turned into curd, then hand-churned, and finally slow-cooked over cow dung fire. This method ensures that the natural properties, aroma, and nutritional value remain intact. What you receive is not just ghee—it is the result of a complete natural journey shaped by desert ecology, traditional wisdom, and careful preservation.
